Crows Nest has long been a destination for diners, with Willoughby Road in particular providing a huge range of eating out options, but until recently it was a bit of a black hole if you wanted to forego the eating part of your night out and just hop straight into a bunch of drinks with your friends. That’s changed remarkably in recent times, and Crows Nest now boasts a healthy cluster of small bars within a stone’s throw of each other and situated nicely in the middle of the whole lot is the aptly named Crow Bar – and a ‘suburban bar’ this aint!
The Crow Bar looks quite unassuming from the street, but as you wander down the laneway to the entrance you soon realise there is a lot more to this venue than first meets the eye. There’s the main bar with accompanying drinking/dining area that you can see from the street, but there is also another bar and drinking area down back and all the way down the back there is another room with fabulous leather couches that feels a bit like a den and would be perfect for booking out with a group of friends or even a work function. There are more than 20 wines available by the glass and a long list of cocktails including a page titled ‘man-tails’ – a list of serious cocktails for serious drinkers – none of those girly-pop cocktials you might find in a faux cocktail bar, these are cracking good drinks that will set you and your friends up for a really good night out!
The Crow Bar is one of the bars in Crows Nest that is helping to cement this suburb as a real destination for great cocktails, good wine and quality craft beer. If it’s been a while since you hopped across the harbour to the beautiful lower north shore of Sydney, then do yourself a favour and round up a bunch of friends and organise your own small bar tour of Crows Nest. Make sure you swing by The Crow Bar, grab yourself a perch and give that cocktail list a good going over – we suggest fast tracking to the ‘man-tails’ list and start your night with a bang!
