Honestly, who would have thought that Sherry, yep Sherry would ever become trendy? Well it has and it makes a certain amount of sense because tapas style eating, made popular by the Spanish, has taken all before it in the bar scene over the last couple of years, so it stands to reason that Spanish wine would follow. And follow it has, and now there is a tapas bar in Sydney that have put the two together superbly and the result is Bar Tapavino! Tapavino – a fusion of ‘tapas’ and ‘vino’ – is a tapas and sherry bar in the truest sense: it’s great for both food and for wine, just like the Spanish intended and at Tapavino you’ll find over 50 different sherries available at any given time and nearly all of them served by the glass (or carafe, if you prefer more than a glass and less than a bottle). There’s a great range of Spanish wines (other than sherry) on offer too, which are also the perfect accompaniment for the amazing selection of authentic Spanish style tapas food on the menu. The bar crew here are also very adept in making you a top-notch cocktail, so fear not if you think that wine and jerez (sherry) are the only tipples on the list here.
Frank and his crew at Tapavino really have bought the flavours of Spain to downtown Sydney without trying to cheaply or distastefully replicate a typical tapas bar you might find in the old town of Madrid or Barcelona. If you love the Spanish sense of good food, lots of wine and fun times, then it’s pretty safe to say that you’ll love this bar!
