Stowaway is a real gem of a small bar in a gem of a suburb located on Sydney’s northern beaches. Stowaway is right in the middle of Freshwater and is the suburb’s first small bar, yet looks and feels like a small bar you might find a lot closer to the city. It’s decked out with the now-obligatory vintage 2nd hand furniture and various paraphernalia in keeping with the nautical theme and there’s a dining table with bench seats which is great for small groups. But the best seats in this ‘house’ are the window seats which put you right beside the footpath as this bar opens up onto the main street of Freshwater village. It’s a great perch to sit and have a few drinks and watch the world wander by. There’s plenty of choice when it comes to wine and beer and cocktails also get a pretty good run here and you can order pizza from the shop next door and eat it in the bar. Brilliant!
Stowaway is a big hit with the Freshwater locals and the truth is you don’t have to stowaway at Stowaway to get in on the fun – just walk in and say “g’day” – the crew there will be delighted to have you on board!
