King Street Newtown, in Sydney’s inner-west, has always been a great spot for a night out and in the last couple of years it has improved markedly with the first and second generation of small bar owners moving into the cosmopolitan area and offering a quality (read: better) alternative to the pubs along the strip. The Moose is a fabulous small bar down towards the St Peters end of King Street and there you will find a cosy bar, busy with locals and offering comedy, live music, quality food and drinks and a great place to hang out with your mates.
The St Peters and of King Street is a lot more neighbourly than the city end and generally a bit more chilled out. There’s a lot less ‘blow ins’ down that part of the strip on the weekends too and that alone can be a great reason to hang out at bars like The Moose which is usually brimming with locals all enjoying the really good cocktails or craft beer on offer. The inner west is a really friendly part of Sydney and if you’re not a local to Newtown, Erskineville, Enmore or the like, then bars like The Moose will make you feel very welcome and make you feel like you belong in ‘the hood’ and after a few drinks there you might decide to settle in ‘the hood’ … for good!
