Sydney’s Surry Hills is a haven for foodies and there’s a plethora of drinking options in this hipster-friendly pocket of Sydney, but there are surprisingly few small bars down the south end of Crown Street. Luckily, Mr Fox fills that void. Mr Fox looks and feels like a ‘classic’ small bar – it’s long and narrow and has lots of comfortable lounges and chairs to relax into and if you’re a fan of people watching there’s seats at the large windows that open up right onto Crown Street.
Ian and Linda have recently taken over Mr Fox and have done a full refurbishment in the downstairs bar and now it feels a lot ‘warmer’ than what it was when it first opened. They are going to add to the food menu, expand the cocktail list and Mr Fox is becoming the ‘place to be’ on a Sunday afternoon with DJ’s spinning tunes there from 3 – 9pm every Sunday afternoon/evening. And we all know the importance of a good Sunday session – whether it be recovery from a big night before or just winding down gently from the weekend. Mr Fox is an up-and-comer and although this bar didn’t have the most splendid of reputations with the previous licensee, that is all changing with the new owners who are well on their way to making this a must-visit Surry Hills small bar!
