Crown Street which runs right up the middle of Surry Hills and Darlinghurst is one of the city’s most vibrant and fun streets to eat, drink and play. Low 302 is one of the quality bars on Crown Street and they have been serving up great drinks and first class bar food for five years now. Yep, the guys at 302 were churning out great cocktails a long time before the small bar ‘revolution’ rolled into Sydney and taking all before it! There is a sense of ‘cool’ about Low 302, however it’s not too cool for school and although it’s definitely a hipster-friendly bar, you’ll find Low 302 populated by all sorts of inner-city folks on a Friday or Saturday night. Live music is an integral component of the Low 302 ‘fabric’ as is the food, with the kitchen staying open all the way up until closing at 2am. They have a great selection of tapas style food, some seriously good cured meats or cheese boards to share and they even put on a roast on a Sunday! Another great attribute of Low 302 is that they have an outdoor area that’s right on Crown Street, so you can gather with your friends and watch the world walk by of an evening and for any smokers it’ll mean you won’t have to leave your friends if you want to sneak in a cigarette or two.
The beauty with the small bar scene is that you can incorporate a handful of bars on your bar-hop, yet not have to walk through 3 suburbs in order to do so and Low 302 is in the middle of the Surry Hills small-bar bubble and our tip is that you save 302 till last. Why? It’s open till 2am (most small bars close at midnight) and you can indulge your desire for a late night/early morning bite to eat too! Low 302 is good fun and possibly the perfect bar for a nightcap, or three, on your way home.
