For many years now there’s been talk of the ‘gentrification’ of Redfern – the inner city suburb that has cleaned up its act considerably (both literally and metaphorically) after living a very troubled existence for many, many years. Although Redfern will never be truly ‘gentrified’ (and why would anybody want it that way?) it is now a suburb that boasts a few great places to eat and has an emerging small bar scene which will in turn bring more people to the area in search of a good night out.
One of the newest small bars to open in ‘The Fern’ is Hustle & Flow – a hip hop/graffiti inspired bar which boasts the best street art interior of any bar in Sydney! The idea of this bar is to be immersed in an ‘urban’ setting and Hustle & Flow nails this with the artwork, the furniture, the tunes and the general atmosphere of this small bar. It’s not a place to go for high cocktails or for fine wine, it’s a place to go to have fun with your crew and be surrounded by colourful art and just suck back a few drinks without having to overthink what it is that you are drinking! Yeah, that might be a bit of an old-skool approach to drinking in a bar and generally having fun, but Hustle & Flow is all about just that: drinking in a bar and having fun. If you’re into the whole urban/r ‘n’ b thing or if you’re into the whole ‘Redfern’ thing, then swing by Hustle & Flow and soak up the sights and sounds of this very hip (hop) Redfern bar!
